In 1999, Sue Haldane and partner Gary Willis established The Boiler Room - a label that restores and redesigns furniture from New Zealand’s Working History and Institutional Past. Since then, they have built their own art furniture workshop overlooking the sea at Muriwai. From here, they make their living, providing bespoke furniture and fit outs for domestic and commercial ventures.

Still inspired by the found provocations of years ago, Sue and Gary look forward to re-opening what has been stored away in boxes – materials steeped in time, texture and materials fabricated with quality. The artist duo will shine their light on what has been hidden away. They are curious as to what they might find.
