Catrina is an abstract painter whose work is a gestural, sensory response to her coastal environment. Her work relates to mapping in an abstract way and is about the strong connection she has with Muriwai and the natural world. 

With a lean towards mark making, she experiments with heavily diluted acrylics, inks and dry mediums, exploring different ways to interpret what she sees and feels. 

Her process is intuitive and fluid— like a dance— embracing spontaneity as each mark naturally leads to the next, allowing the painting to unfold organically.
