A long-time Muriwai local, I’m a writer by trade, but painting is my happy place. I work mainly in oils – I like the depth and richness, and the luxury of being able to leave caps off things. 

In line with the theme “All the Light We Cannot See”, I thought I’d try some wee cloudscapes (sorry, no previews as yet). They're a nod to a few favourite artists - Joni Mitchell, Magritte, Maxfield Parrish, van Gogh, our very own Brent Wong – but most of all my dad, Ian Mason: a talented painter and cloud obsessive, who we lost last year.
