Tanya Blong
The poetic and evocative wroks of Tanya Blong lead one on a narrative journey; Layered in symbolism and metaphor, the work is like a foreign language waiting to be learnt.
Storytelling - fact or fiction has always been an inspiration. Blong often operates on an emotive level whilst running a paralle story that may reference history or mythology.
Born in Australia, Blong grew up on the shores of Taranaki. She majored in Sculpture and painting at Hungry Creek art and craft school, New Zealand. She has been a full time artist since 2006, also working as studio assistant to New Zealands renowned sculptor Terry Stringer.
