Muriwai Arts Trail 2009
Marcia Barrowman
I am a local painter, and have been painting for the last five years. Initially I taught myself and then had lessons from a local artist, Kerry Gaston, and later Ted Rogers, who comes from Auckland to teach at Waimauku and Muriwai. My inspiration comes from observing local scenes and from photographs. I like painting a variety of subjects using bright colours and various techniques. Painting has opened the way I look at life and details are now closely observed. Subjects are often not how I imagined and colours are not just black and white but every shade in between. I enjoy painting children’s pieces of fantasy, native trees, birds and animals. I hope you will enjoy them too.
