Muriwai Arts Trail 2010

Jacqueline Cockrill

Jacqueline studied Fine Art in England and holds an Honors Degree in Graphic Design from Hull University. Her dynamic works exhibit both bold and subtle qualities. From a distance lines and broad areas of strong colour bring structure to the works but look closer and you find rich textures incorporating vibrant colours and markings that continue to engage. Her work is influenced by a fascination with the organic marking of time passing - weathered surfaces, patination and the scars of history. The process of applying and scraping away pigment produce texture, layers and scratches that cannot be completely erased recording what has gone before and baring testament to the works painstaking evolution. Jacqueline's work is held in both corporate and private collections in New Zealand, England, Australia and Singapore.
